 Ambulance Review

I had a really hard time convincing myself to sit down and finish this film when I watched it. The story and the structure itself is silly, which I was expecting based on the trailers and how thin the set is but in appearance this was confusing.

The basic premise of the movie is that Jake Gyllenhall and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are brothers who rob a bank that makes a mistake. The bank robbery team was evacuated one by one by the LAPD until something went wrong as the brothers tried to flee. As a result of the unfortunate incident, both brothers were forced to grab an ambulance and run. One long car chase follows multiple crashes, flat tires, flying bullets and explosions.

Again, this is okay because I was expecting it in trailers. And the film is directed at Michael Bay, so I was expecting it to be very stylish over something and a spectacle.

Unfortunately the movie is constantly being filmed with a non-stop motion & airerial camera such as drone and motion pictures. And even DON'T STOP. It’s like Michael Bay and his photographer shot a Red Bull 6-pack, pulled out a cocaine-filled Ziploc, blew up a smartphone and turned off all visual enhancement and started shooting while running.

There are almost no shots when the camera does not hit the floor or up or down or surround people or objects and move like crazy. It makes it difficult to follow the action. Even in the first place where the characters Jake and Yahya talk, the camera is always around them!

Maybe if Michael Bay could have controlled himself and shot the movie in such a way that it was easy to follow the action and the camera had not always moved, I would have liked this very much. Nothing can be as dull or boring as watching the camera move or move around for about 90 minutes! I find that some of the things that are done visually are the trademarks of the director but are driven to 11 and do not stop.

I would not recommend paying to watch this unless there is nothing better you can do. The story is so stupid and good looking this movie is so chaotic that it can be entertaining in my humble opinion. Go see Sonic the Hedgehog 2 or Morbius instead ...
