Eraser: Reborn Review
I just re-watched the first Eraser movie to be in the mood for this. And as I thought, this is actually not a sequel but rather a repetition. Or restart ... or "reborn" source as they call the movie. Now that you’ve seen the real one you might ask: do I need to watch this? It depends - if you have a new one in memory and you remember it well, it is best to avoid this.
For some reason the German distribution thought that this would make a good theater release film. And I think it's good to see any movie on the big screen. The main character is not so bad compared to Arnold when it comes to acting - which is not for me to be hard on any or both of them. You actually have some charisma - not like Arnold did. The bottom line is that a bad person is better off in the beginning. If you know who I'm talking about, you can find out who's going to be here.
All that aside: there’s a good decent act in a movie and I’ve seen some really bad films. CGI is wrong though and almost completely destroys the natural message it tries to deliver. Especially for the last time (he went to board instead of the liner caught by the train - which you might find funny or not).
All in all there are tweaks to some points of the plot but you will see the changes and you can guess where the movie is going. The new Vanessa Williams is also very good ... and she knows what she wants ... and I saw that she and the main character are doing a tv show together. At least a few episodes I read. But they know each other, which I think is something that has helped their strength in screen and chemistry. This is the exact dvd / streaming theme - expect to find that out.
